National Volunteer Week
National Volunteer Week - April 18-24, 2010
President Obama has proclaimed April 18-24, 2010 as National Volunteer Week to recognize and celebrate the huge impact that volunteers have in our communities. The snowmobilers and snowmobile clubs in Minnesota are a part of this volunteer heritage.
Natiional Volunteer Week began in 1974 when President Richard Nixon signed an executive order establishing the week as an annual celebration of volunteering. Since then, every US President has signed a proclamation promoting National Volunteer Week.
Snowmobiling is a $1 billion industry in Minnesota. Thanks to the efforts of the volunteers in grooming and maintaining 90% of the 21,000 plus miles of snowmobile trails in Minnesota, citizens of the state are provided with a network of public trails for their winter enjoyment at a very nominal cost.
Minnesota United Snowobilers Association (MnUSA) is a volunteer organization that supports the efforts of the clubs through favorable snowmobile legislation, regulations and funding.
