WHY JOIN A CLUB?

They are the workhorses of the snowmobile industry.

Without them, snowmobiling in MN doesn’t exist as it does today. Even if you can’t provide your time or talents, they would even just love your money and support! Some responsibilities of a snowmobile club:

  • Work with thousands of land owners annually for permission to use their land.
  • Establish reroutes when those permissions are removed.
  • File paperwork with the state for trail mapping.
  • File paperwork with the state for funding.
  • Clear, prep, and sign trails before the season.
  • Groom the trails throughout the season.
  • Update public on trail conditions.
  • Maintain equipment.
  • Provide education.
  • Remove signs after the season.
  • Host social and fundraising events to support local communities throughout the year.
  • Manage finances, insurance, paperwork, and state filings.
  • Work with local and state governments on implementations of trails, laws, and safety.
  • Hold meetings to conduct the coordination and implementation of all of these tasks.

Be part of the solution.

It’s the right thing to do if you ride in Minnesota. Being informed and involved with the local clubs in the areas you ride gives you the opportunity to be part of solving the many problems they face every year. Upset about trail conditions? Wondering why trails are open or closed? Wondering why trails change each year? Join a club and be part of the solutions and decisions to each of these questions. TRAILS ARE RUN BY THE CLUBS, NOT THE MN DNR.

Clubs NEED numbers.

There is strength in numbers! While clubs greatly appreciate the small dues they request from their members to help with operations, much of their funding is provided by the state, and your support of those laws that benefit snowmobiling in Minnesota. Those dollars and voices DO MAKE A DIFFERNCE! 

Education and knowledge.

Clubs provide education and knowledge to the public in two very important ways:

Education of the future generations of the sport with safety certification classes! Not just youth classes, but anyone who was born after 1976 needs safety certification in order to ride in MN. Clubs help everyone get the education they need to ride.
Knowledge and training on how to maintain the trails and work with local and state officials to keep the future of snowmobiling in Minnesota alive. The average rider in Minnesota is not aware of how the industry is run. By belonging to a club you get a front row seat on how we can continue to make our state a top destination in the country for snowmobile riding!
